Presentation of the three private companies (startups)

Presentation of the three private companies (startups) currently housed at our Sophia-Antipolis institute.

12 January 2024

Sophia Antipolis - INRAE PACA - A010

As part of the ISA scientific event to be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 10:30 am (and not 11 am) in room A010, we will exceptionally attend the presentation of the three private companies (startups) currently housed at our Sophia-Antipolis institute:

Abstract :

- AgroINNOV, Nicolas Ris, Christophe Vasseur, 10:30 am

Against a backdrop of increasingly frequent introductions of harmful exotic arthropods and/or re-emergence of native pests, AgroINNOV (provisional name) aims to help "optimize and diversify biocontrol solutions (biological control by augmentation)" using entomophagous arthropods.

  • - Optimize: by betting on a more judicious exploitation of the diversity of indigenous auxiliaries, an exploitation underpinned by (i) better knowledge of the ecology of candidate strains, (ii) increased phenotyping capacities and (iii) more relevant field evaluation methods.

  • - Diversify, by taking an interest in "orphan" markets, i.e. territories and/or sectors facing major problems for the players involved, but which are not necessarily a priority beyond that in terms of R&D.

In the short term, the priority will be to develop biocontrol solutions against Lepidoptera using oophagous parasitoids.

- Evolutive Agronomy, Antoine Pasquier and Lucie Monticelli, 11 a.m

Increasing legal constraints, the need for production and pressure from public opinion are forcing farmers to use plant protection methods that are more respectful of the environment and human beings. Nicolas Desneux, Lucie Monticelli and Antoine Pasquier are convinced that research is developing solutions that could help farmers if they were brought to the field. Evolutive Agronomy, a biocontrol company created by researchers, aims to fluidify this continuum between fundamental and applied research, and thus offer effective solutions for agriculture. The company's first topic concerns the use of predatory soil mites to combat phytophagous nematodes.

Mycophyto, Grégory Hoff and Mathilde Clément, 11:30 a.m.

Taking care of our soils and making them resilient in the face of climate change means ensuring the sustainability of our food supply. Since its creation in 2017, MYCOPHYTO's mission has been to provide concrete solutions for regenerative agriculture. Thanks to a unique know-how based on the knowledge and production of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, MYCOPHYTO supports farmers by offering them sustainable biological solutions to limit the use of water and chemical inputs.
