"Conservation and population genetics of British hedgehogs".

24 April 2026

11:00 am - Sophia Antipolis - INRAE PACA

As part of the ISA seminars, Hongli Yu, new postdoc in the GAME team, will give a seminar (in English) on this Friday, 24th April, at 11:00, room A010.

Abstract :

Hongli Yu will give an overview of her PhD study at Nottingham Trent University, UK. The study revolves around some key questions for hedgehog conservation: How many are there? Where are they? Are the populations connected? What drives population changes? A combination of fieldwork (spatial capture-recapture), lab work, landscape ecology, landscape genetics (microsatellite), and population genomics was employed, attempting to identify main factors affecting hedgehogs on different spatial scales. How the study was developing and how the results would help to combat the hedgehog decline will be discussed.

Hongli will also introduce you her postdoc research on population genomics of root-knot nematodes, using long-read sequencing, at GAME team.
