"Integrated omics approach for enhancing stress resilience in legumes: the case of chickpea"

21 March 2025

Sophia Antipolis - INRAE PACA - 11:00 am

In the framework of Animation Scientifique ISA, the IRL team invites Federico Martinelli de l'Université de Florence. He will give a seminar in A010 next Friday, 21 March at 11:00.

Abstract :

"In this presentation, several past and ongoing research projects dealing with the improvement of stress resilience in legumes will be described. Research data were carried out at the University of Florence within the framework of 4 international projects funded by PRIMA (LEGU-MED; 2020-2024), Italy-Israel bilateral project (Resilient Hummus; 2021-2023), Horizon 2020 (Valereco; 2024-2028), COST EU (EPI-CATCH; 2020-2024). The focus of these projects is mainly chickpea crop. The cited projects performed: 1) identification of candidate molecular markers through genome-wide association analysis for improvement of agronomic traits (lentil and chickpea); 2) a characterization of rhizobia genotypes within chickpea nodules in response to drought stress; 3) an investigation of transgenerational stress memory mechanisms through an integrated functional genomics approach; 4) a characterization of legume crops at functional genomics and agronomic level in sustainable farming systems (pea, chickpea, Hedysarum). Future prospects and possible collaborations in relation to the described results will be described."
