Abstract :

As part of this defence of my application for accreditation to supervise research, I will present a summary of my work on crop pest control. This research aims to better understand and optimise the use of two plant protection approaches that utilise macro-organisms: biological control and autocidal control.

With regard to biological control, I am interested in the factors determining the efficacy of biocontrol macro-organisms (predators and parasitoids). In particular, I examine how their responses to different stimuli influence their behaviour, development and ability to regulate target pest populations. This work is primarily based on experimental approaches under controlled conditions, including the design and use of appropriate experimental set-ups.

For autocidal control, my research focuses on the factors influencing pest population dynamics in response to the introduction of incompatible or sterile conspecifics. This work is based on the development and analysis of theoretical models.

Finally, I will present the direction of my research project for the coming years.
