Leveraging bioinformatics and machine learning to study the pivotal characteristics of effector proteins in agro-economically important plant pathogen

14 March 2025

Sophia Antipolis - INRAE PACA - 10:00 am

The Artificial Intelligence in Genomics cluster (https://pepi-ibis.inrae.fr/ia-genomique) invites you to a presentation by Giulia Calia and Silvia Bottini (SMILE team, at ISA) : Leveraging bioinformatics and machine learning to study the pivotal characteristics of effector proteins in agro-economically important plant pathogen. This Friday, March 14 at 10:00 am online via Zoom

Abstract :

Plant pests cause considerable yearly crop losses and are a major threat to global food security. Identifying and characterising the effectors of these parasites and pathogens is crucial to improving their control. Thanks to MOnSTER and LEAPH, we have gained a better understanding of the mechanisms used by pathogens to infect plants. These studies have uncovered important signatures that could lead to the blocking of plant-pathogen interactions and the design of durable resistance to disease.
