Sophia Antipolis - INRAE PACA - A010

Praween Choubey, postdoctoral fellow in the BES team, will be presenting his seminar as part of the ISA scientific event to be held this Friday, January 24 at 11:00 am in room A010:

Abstract :

"Chordotonal organs (ChOs) are proprioceptors that develop in Drosophila during embryogenesis and start to function upon initiation of larval locomotion. Eight ChOs develop in each abdominal hemisegment of the larva; five of them are clustered in the prominent lateral pentascolopidial organ (LCh5). The LCh5 organ consists of six types of cells: neuron and scolopale (glia) cells constitute the sensory unit, whereas the cap, cap-attachment, ligament and ligament-attachment cells constitute the accessory unit. This study describes the role of Integrin signaling pathway in morphogenesis of ChO of the LCh5 accessory unit. Knocking down genes encoding components of the Integrin signaling pathway led to abnormal elongation of ligament cells and defective attachment between cap cells and cap-attachment cells. Further, results show that temporal regulation of Integrin signaling pathway is important for ligament differentiation in embryonic as well as larval stage. Genetic interaction between sr-B and Integrin in ligament cells differentiation in early stages of embryo development suggesting initial Integrin signaling is affected by intracellular factors. Taken together these results suggest important role of Integrin signaling pathway in morphogenesis of ChO in Drosophila"
