Study of chemotactic behavior in phytopathogenic nematodes

The trainee works in direct collaboration with the research officer of the IPN team and the research engineer responsible for the phenotyping video platform. The objectives of this internship are (i) to improve a method of phenotyping the chemotactic behavior of nematodes, adapted to the species Meloidogyne incognita and Xiphinema index, and (ii) to analyze for each species the behavioral response of a population of individuals to a chemical source such as a root extract. The first half includes a phase of developing the experimental design of the dispersion arena of individuals, choosing image acquisition systems and developing image analysis scripts. The second half includes phases of data production and analysis. The implementation of this study protocol and the conduct of the experiments are to be based on developments and experiments initiated within the IPN and PlantBIOs teams.
